With the price of gasoline headed up, the Rapids are looking for ways to help parents and players save on the costs of travel to practices and to games, and to increase overall fuel efficiency in our club. We need to encourage carpooling, and we want to organize van trips to tournaments and games this fall and winter. We welcome your ideas. We would line one volunteer from each team. CARPOOLING The Rapids will do everything possible this season to help families share rides and expenses to practices, games and tournaments. If you need help coordinating this -- getting the contact info for team members or non-team members who travel to the same rinsk you do on certain nights and weekends, get in touch. We can help.
We are trying to plan for some three-game weekends -- that is, weekends when teams will meet at a rink and play three games, or practice once with two games.
We encourage our families to host players in their homes overnight to reduce travel.
We also hope that eliminating Thursday team practices every other week -- and having teams practice instead on a weekend -- will create more opportunities for carpooling.
